McDonald’s was founded on April 15, 1955 in Des Plaines, Illinois. The business originally started in 1940 as a barbecue restaurant run by Richard and Maurice McDonald. Later businessman Ray Kroc joined the company as an agent in 1955 and thus McDonald’s Corporation began its success. Today McDonald’s has more than 31,000 restaurants worldwide and more than 1.5 million employees. As the world’s largest chain of fast food restaurants, their brand name is well known all over the world.
