Banksy is an infamous graffiti artist from England. There are a lot of controversies, conjectures and myths around his biography. According to the main version, his real name is Robin Banks, he was born in 1974 and lives in Bristol.
Banksy designed the cover art for Blur’s “Think tank” album. In 2006, in several music stores in London, he replaced discs with an album by Paris Hilton for discs with a forty-minute song Danger Mouse and his own drawings. In the movie “Child of Man” his work with two kissing policemen is shown. It was this drawing that inspired the photograph “Era of Mercy” by the Russian art group Blue Noses
Nobody knows anything about him Banksy – a mysterious, almost mythological person. There are no exact facts about his past and present. No one, except for a couple of journalists, saw him live, and whether Banksy himself came to talk to them remains a mystery. One of the lucky ones who met Banksy face to face was the Guardian journalist Simon Hattenstone. He described Banksy as “a cross between actor Jimmy Neil and rapper Mike Skinner” and as “a 28-year-old guy in jeans and a T-shirt, with a silver tooth, a silver chain and one silver earring.”
Banksy said that he was studying to be a butcher, but when he saw that everyone in Bristol was spoiling the walls with spray paint, he became a graffiti artist. Even his parents don’t know what he’s really up to.
