Smoking parents negatively affects not only their health, but also children, provoking the growing body to irritability, reduced immunity and many serious diseases. Elena Meskina, chief specialist in infectious diseases of children of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, spoke about the frightening consequences of inhaling tobacco by children in an interview with URA.RU.

So, even if a child is born healthy, and in the process of growing up because of his parents becomes a passive smoker, the risk of lung problems increases in the child. If he is allergic, diseases of the respiratory system progress.

“Bronchial asthma, and ultimately chronic obstructive pulmonary disease – this can also drag on from childhood,” the expert explained.

In addition, passive smoking greatly affects the immune system. And as a result, it can cause irritability in the child.

“In adult life, smoking will respond with diseases of civilization: diabetes, bowel disease, arthritis,” Meskina added.

A colleague, narcologist Alexei Kazantsev, agrees with Meskina’s opinion. He noted that in addition to diseases, children whose parents smoke, most likely, will also begin to smoke. After all, they had a good example throughout their childhood. And, as you know, children imitate the behavior of their parents.
