Iranian artist and designer Mehdi Gadyanlu, with the support of the municipality, is gradually decorating the city of Tehran, the capital of Iran. The 33-year-old street artist has been murals in Tehran for the past 5 years, during which he has painted over a hundred walls.

Like most growing cities, Tehran has an architectural confusion with buildings. Often, they have only one facade, while on the other sides the house remains gray and inconspicuous. It does not beautify the city at all, but it creates an excellent working environment for artists. Approximately 8 years ago, the municipality created a committee to help promote street art in Tehran. Now artists like Mehdi Gadyanlu are funded by the state. Artists compete with each other, decorating the huge facades of gray buildings with beautiful works of art.
